We offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in a small-group format. It's a structured, 6-session program that combines preparation, two guided medicine sessions, and integration work.

Ketamine is a powerful tool. It can create space for new perspectives, shift long-held patterns, and make therapy more effective. But it's not magic—it works best when used with intention and support. Our group model provides medical oversight, skilled facilitation, and the quiet presence of others on a similar path.

The 6 sessions are sequential. Each has a purpose. We ask that participants commit to the full series.

We Offer Ketamine Differently

There are FDA-approved options like esketamine (Spravato) nasal spray, as well as powerful off-label IV infusions that many clinics provide. While these can be effective, we've chosen oral treatments—more accessible, less invasive, and easier to integrate into a therapeutic process. And rather than isolated sessions, we offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in a small-group format: a structured, 6-session program that includes preparation, two guided medicine sessions, and dedicated integration work.

Ketamine isn't like traditional antidepressants. Instead of adjusting serotonin or dopamine, it works on a different system entirely—blocking NMDA receptors in the brain to promote neuroplasticity. In simple terms, it helps your brain form new connections, making it possible to "rewire" old patterns of depression, anxiety, and trauma. Many patients describe it as creating space between themselves and their suffering—room to breathe, reflect, and see things differently.

What Is Ketamine—and Why We Offer It

Who It's For

We often work with people who feel stuck after years of traditional therapy, as well as those curious about deeper psychological exploration. Research indicates significant benefits for adults with treatment-resistant depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, bipolar depression, and chronic stress. Because ketamine is not suitable for everyone, we prioritize safety through a thorough, individualized assessment to determine if this treatment is the right fit for you.

How to Get Started

This program is available to established patients of Tacoma Integrative Psychiatry. If you're interested, please discuss with your provider during a routine visit—they can help determine if it's a good fit for you and prescribe you an appropriate dose.

At this time, we are unable to accept ketamine group participants that have prescriptions from providers outside of our practice.

group series

Session 1- Preparation

We begin with a dedicated preparation session. You'll meet your facilitators, connect with other group members, and set a clear intention for your work ahead. We'll discuss what to expect, answer your questions, and establish a foundation of safety and trust.

Before the first medicine session, we gather to refine and deepen your intention. This is a focused, grounding session that helps you enter the experience with clarity and purpose.

Your first medicine session takes place in a calm, supportive environment. You'll receive a carefully measured dose of ketamine while our facilitators guide you through the experience. Music, eyeshades, and gentle support help you turn inward and explore.

Session 2- Intention Setting
Session 3 – Ketamine Journey #1
Session 6- Integration

After the journey, we come back together to process what arose. This is where the real work begins—connecting insights to your daily life, identifying patterns, and starting to shift how you relate to yourself and others.

The second medicine session builds on the first. With the groundwork laid, many participants find they can go deeper or encounter new material. Your intention guides you, and our team stays with you throughout.

We close the series with a final integration session. We reflect on the full arc of your experience, celebrate what's shifted, and create a plan for sustaining your growth moving forward.

Session 5- Ketamine Journey #2
Session 4- Integration

A Few Important Details

We Strongly Recommend Outside Support

We strongly encourage participants to have an outside individual psychotherapist during and after the series. Integration between sessions greatly enhances the depth and durability of the work. This is not required, but we believe it leads to the most meaningful and lasting change.

Understanding the Investment

We believe in being upfront about costs so there are no surprises.

Ketamine Group Therapy involves two types of services:

Preparation and integration sessions

We'll bill the medication preparation and integration sessions (Sessions #1, #2, #4, and #6) to your insurance. You'll be responsible for your usual copay, deductible, or coinsurance—and we're happy to help you navigate coverage along the way.

The ketamine medicine sessions and the medication itself

These are not covered by insurance. This is common with off-label ketamine treatments, and they will be an out-of-pocket expense.

The $500 fee is for both sessions. Payment arrangements are available.

Medication varies in cost, usually under $60 for two doses

A Note on Safety

All ketamine sessions take place at an urban retreat in the Tacoma area, under medical supervision. We follow strict safety protocols and monitor you throughout each journey. Your physical and emotional safety is our priority. For your safety, you will not be able to drive yourself home. Please make arrangements for a safe, reliable ride home.
